South Nottinghamshire Cricket League Rule 11. QUALIFICATION OF PLAYERS. See SNCL handbook.

In summary.

Category 1 - Recreational Player

The player must be a British or EU citizen.

If the player is NOT a British or EU citizen then the player may play if they have been permanently resident in Britain or the EU for a minimum of 2 consecutive years immediately preceding registration, during which time absence from Britain or the EU shall not have exceeded 35 days consecutively or 70 days in total.

The player must NOT receive remuneration, financial inducement or benefit in any form from the club.

It is the responsibility of the club to ensure that all of the information provided in this application is correct and that the player continues to conform to Rule 11.

Proof of eligibility maybe asked for before a registration is processed.

All Category 2 - Professional Player, Category 3 - Overseas Player, Category 4 (3E) - Specially Registered players must be approved by the League Secretary before this registration will be approved.

Players may not play for more than club in the league in any one season without transferring as per Rule 10e

Players registering after 31st July are not eligible to play in Divisions A, B, C, D, E or F for the remainder of the current season.

Any attempt to bypass these rules by submitting false information will result in disciplinary measures being brought against your club. This may include points deductions, fines and player bans.


SNCL QUALIFICATION OF PLAYER

CATEGORY 1

A Category 1 Recreational Player is defined as a player other than those who must qualify under section 11.ii, iii and iv of the league rules. See Category 2, 3 and 3 Exempt for details.

In summary it a player who is either :-

a British or EU citizen or has been permanently resident in the UK or EU for a minimum of 2 years prior to the application and is not being paid to play or receiving benefits in kind to play. See Category 2 and 3 below.


CATEGORY 2

Professional Player - One defined as holding a contract with a first class county or one who receives remuneration, financial inducement or benefit in any form from a club, its sponsors or its other players. Remuneration , financial inducement or benefit shall include any of the following:-

a. The payment of a player's match tax or club subscription by the club, its sponsors or its other players or any other third party.

b. The provision of equipment without charge or at a discounted value to an individual for his use as opposed to general use at the club.

c. Inflated payments for coaching, work on the club's ground or behind the club bar or any other remuneration where the payments do not represent a fair or proper reward for the hours spent by the player on behalf of the club.

d. The payment of travelling expenses to matches.

e. Any other benefits in kind enjoyed by the individual player where the cost is borne by the club, its sponsors or any third party on the clubs behalf and not the player himself.


CATEGORY 3

Overseas Player

a. Defined as as a player who is neither a British nor an EU citizen and who has not been permanently resident in Britain or the EU for a minimum of two consecutive years immediately preceding registration, during which time absence from Britain or the EU shall not have exceeded 35 days consecutively or 70 days in total.

b. Professional/Overseas Players shall be eligible to play only in Division A of the league, except by special dispensation of the Management Committee under d. below.

c. Clubs in Division A may only play one Professional/Overseas Player per season and the name of the player must have been submitted in writing by the club to the league secretary ten full days prior to the player's first appearance. Such registrations must be effected no later than the first Saturday in June. Once named, such players cannot be substituted  or replaced by any other player without the approval of the Management Committee.

d.  Specially Registered Players - See Category 3 Exempt.


CATEGORY 3A (EXEMPT)

d. Not withstanding the general ineligibility of Overseas Players defined for registration to play in the league except as Professional/Overseas players in Division A, an application to play in Division B and below must be made to the management committee for special registration in the following circumstances.

A Bone fide amateur player who is either:

i) School pupil or student studying in the UK or the EU or

ii) Has been permanently resident in the UK or EU for a minimum of eighteen months prior to the application. However no club may have more than one such overseas player.
